Lionel Messi has taken the MLS by storm after joining Inter Miami. The club has gone 2-0 in both games that Messi has played and in under 90 minutes of play combined in both games, he has already scored three total goals.
In Miami’s first game against Cruz Azul, Miami took on the win with a 2-1 final score as Messi scored the game-winning goal on a free kick. Not only did Messi help Miami cash on their 125 odds to win the game, but he also cashed on his 115 odds to score a goal at any point throughout the game.
After a thrilling game during his debut, the thrill continued into Miami’s second game against Atlanta United. Miami was heavily favored to win the game at -105 odds on the moneyline. In the game though, Mess’s anytime odds to score a goal shot down to -150. Those aren’t the only profitable odds that cashed. Messi scored not once, but twice in the game and both of his goals came in under 30 minutes of play.

Looking beyond just betting on Messi’s prop odds or Inter Miami’s odds straight up, it’s worth taking a look at the overall championship odds for Inter Miami and their journey. Starting with where they opened, they opened the year in February at 2600 odds and slowly dropped back to 6000 in May before shooting up to 17500 in June which was their peak.
After news broke that Messi was rumored to join Miami, their 17500 odds did not last long as they dropped to 1800 shortly after in mid-June. They went on a similar downhill trend to what they did to start the year as their odds went back up to 5000.
Finally, after Messi arrived in Miami and played his first two games, their odds of winning the MLS Leagues Cup grew shorter and shorter until oddsmakers listed them as the favorites to win at 650 odds. They are the only team with odds to win at under 1000.
